General Machining Guidelines

1. The higher values for surface speed should be used on lighter radial depths of cut; the lower values for greater depths of cut.

2. The above recommendations are for width of cuts or axial lengths of cuts not too exceed 1-1/2 times the cutter diameter.

3. Reduce speeds approximately 20% of lowest value for slotting applications.

Cutting Speed   Vc = .262 x D1 x rpm
Revolutions / Min.   rpm=3.82 x Vc / D1
Feed Rate   fm = ft x n x rpm
Feed Rate / Tooth   ft = fm / (n x rpm)
Symbols Used:

    D1 = End Mill Diameter
    rpm = Revolutions per Minute
    Vc = Cutting Speed, feet per Minute
    ft = Feed, Inches / Tooth
    fm = Feed, Inches / Revolution
    n = number of teeth
